For some strange reason, every now and again for the past few weeks, my temp. will shoot up without warning and my checkgauges light comes on, then a few minutes later, the temp goes back to a normal range and the light comes off.....anyone know why?

Could be a sticking thermostat. Have it checked and replace it. Its cheap insurance.Beyond that, ask kyle or bill. Cooling systems are not my strongest point.

I would say a sticking thermostat is the most likely culprit, but it could be caused by a low coolant level due to a leak somewhere or even a failing cooling fan clutch. Probably just a bad thermostat though Rachel.
