Default Temp Sensor?

When I bought my 93 s10 blazer 4.3 HO the temperature gauge jumped all over the place, so I bought a new one (over $30) and it came with two wires when mine only had one. I hooked one up as a ground and the other onto the original wire and it basically did the same thing. I went and got another one and its the exact same. Am I doinging something wrong here or is it the wrong sensor? Any help is good because when the needle stays up the check gauges light comes on. Thanks

Get the right sensor. Take the others back.
Take the old one with you. You may have to look at a '92 for the right part.

I had a similar problem this week and just fixed it yesterday. My "Check Gauges" light came on, the temperature gauge jumped around and then pinned at the top (hot) mark.

This was caused by a faulty temperature sender and the fix was suggested by guys here on the forum. do a search under my user name and their comments should come up.

I also have the 4.3 engine but in a 94 model. You will have a hard time getting the sender in/out if you don't have the proper length of socket wrench. None of mine would fit in the cramped space.

Good luck,

Bill

Thanks for the help, I think I will try the temperature sender.
