thermostat question
#1
I have a 91 s10 blazer 4x4 4.3L
Ok so today I replaced the thermostat and gasket. afterward i noticed that it was running hotter the thermostat was opening maybe around 220 as it kept getting hot and then cooling down to 210 again. I'm kind of lost because the old one was working fine and opening at 195 ish... so could it be a sensor or is the thermostat wrong? any help is appreciated. thank you
i should also tell you that i purchased a 195 degree duralast thermostat

1) Did you check the t-stat to see that it was actually rated to 195? It is usually stamped onto the t-stat itself just for verification. It's not important, most people overlook it... but that will tell you if the t-stat was the right one.
2) You say it was running hotter after the t-stat change, I assume this means before you did the t-stat change the gauge read fine? This would lead me to think the t-stat is probably your issue and not the gauge. Gauge was working fine before, likely to be working fine now.
3) Are you leaking coolant from your new gasket/t-stat? Maybe the system can't pressurize and is just getting too hot?

looks like its leaking either around the backside of the gasket and or on the actual radiator hose at the connection point. so i looked at the hose it seems fine?? i just put all my tools away and walked away from it for tonight haha
