Torx screw stripped
#11
I had the same problem when replacing the nut kit exterior bracket on my 93 Blazer. I ended up buying a set of bolt extractors. The 1/2 inch extractor fit over the rounded Torx head, but was slightly too big. So, I slowly ground the extractor down until it was a good fit on the Torx head. . .and away it came. What a relief getting that miserable Torx out!

Bah. Ended up busting off the head when removing the bracket
Ended up using some FIPG from my Celica and sealed up the holes to prevent any vacuum leaks.
Just closed everything back up and changed the oil (clearly it wasn't oil, it was gas and oil). Ran into another issue now, hopefully I can find the answer around here. There's some frayed wires coming off the distributer plug. Completely forgot about them until I tried to crank and start the engine when it sparked & smoldered :whooops:
Gotta track down this wiring issue now :lesigh:

Well...
Wiring issue resolved (Pink & white wire between the ignitor & distributor where disconnected).
Turned the key and it started right up. Runs like donkey poo now, but at the same time has a wicked vacuum leak behind the engine and I have new spark plugs to install. I'm hoping the replacement and fix of the vac leak will let it idle & run right. Then I need to get it to the gas station & fill it up with 91 octane + octane booster and should be good (there's like 3 or 4 gallons of fuel that's been sitting in there since March '10).
Hopefully the mixture of all that will render it drivable so I can drive 25 miles to the bus station Monday morning...
