Default Trany swaps

Does anybody know if a trany from an 89 4.6 4X4 automatic will fit into an 87 2.8 4x4 automatic?

4.6..? I think you mean 4.3L.

Not that it matters much, the bell housings are different between the two engines. So no, it wouldn't work.

You'd be better off swapping the whole 4.3 and that tranny into your 2.8, but thats a lot of work too..... as my mechanic tells me. May as well as upgrade to a 4.3 based blazer.
