trouble locating part

can anybody tell me where to find/how to get to the oil pressure switch/sender on a 1992 4.3 vortec vin w? is there something i need to remove to reach it?

The oil pressure sending unit is on the back of the engine between the distributor and the driver's side valve cover.

The ability to get to it is dependant on which engine you have in your truck. I believe you have a TBI motor, but it is also possible for you to have the CPI motor. The TBI motor has the traditional round air cleaner while the CPI motor has a large aluminum plenum with a black plastic cover and 'Vortec' in orange lettering written on it.

There is quite a bit more room on a TBI motor than on a CPI motor. With the TBI motor, you should be able to get on it with a wrench, but the CPI motor will mostlikely require the special super deep socket for removing it.
