Default What is causing my blazer to act weird

I have a 1993 S10 Blazer, and other night i went out to eat and the blazer was running fine the time i left my house did my few errands and then to dinner. When i came out to go home i tried to start it and all it did was a click sound, after 40 minutes of being pissed off and then $110 later i got it home via a flat bed tow truck.

I place it on a jump box for a lil to charge the battery it starts and runs fine and will start fine, but if i run it like around the block and turn it off. it just clicks . Could it be either the Alternator or the Starter? Im lost.

could be the ALT. not charging the battery and it becomes drained on your errand trips. Take to Autozone or somewhere to get tested. check all your wire connections, maybe something came loose.

1. Have the battery tested first. It could be that the battery is not holding a charge or has a dead cell.
2. Have the Alt. tested. Are you losing volts on the voltmeter as you are driving. That would be good indication that the Alt. is not charging the battery.
3. Check all battery/alternator connections to make sure they are clean & tight.
4. Starter is cranking so I doubt you have a starter problem.

Then most likely its a bad battery or a loose connection
I would get a new or refurb battery and you should be all set or maybe it could just be a loose ground conection make sure every thing is tight.

Then that means your alternator is putting out enough current to keep the car running. But you cannot start the car because the battery is weak, has a dead cell or not holding a charge. Remove your battery and have it load tested at a near by auto parts store. Be prepared to buy a battery. That would explain all your symptons.

check the positive and neg going to the battery, if you don't find anything loose...check the starter connection......but I bet it's the batt connection...good luck

If it runs with the battery disconnected , then the alternator , voltage regulator and all connections are fine ( not including the battery terminals ). Sounds to me like the simplest answer is the correct one . Battery is toast .

I had the same problem a few weeks ago . Checked everything , and after it was all said and done , it was just a battery that had reached the end of its service life . The battery wont start a truck , but it does make a lovely lawn ornament .
