whats this lil thing on the proportioning valve?

Black thing in center. Its leaking on mine. Is it fixable with a oring etc? what am i even looking at and why would that part leak?
EDIT : found info online.

"There are 2 O-rings in the proportioning valve. If one of the O-rings leaked the prop. valve would lock up and not work. So the "extra port" is a small hole covered by piece of rubber that has a pin hole in it. It lets the fluid leak out rather than the prop. valve just not working."
I would just close this down, but this might help someone else..Question is should i attempt to buy some orings and rebuild that piston? or buy a new valve all together.
