Default 1997 Blazer wiring harness

I bought a 1997 4x4 Blazer from someone really cheap and in great condition. He said it needed a wiring harness. He already had the dash out. He said he did something and did not hook the ground up and it burnt up or melted the harness. Does this seem logical? Also I would like to know if someone knows what years harness will fit the blazer. I am having a hard time finding one. If anyone has any advice please reply soon.

It is the wiring harness behind the dash. Can it be replaced without doing the whole wiring harness? Or is it all one piece under the hood and everything.

I guess supposedly he forgot to ground the harness under the hood to the block or wherever and it caused the one under the dash to melt or burn up.

what is your exact issue as the 'harness' may not be what you need. Jerry

The seller said he drove it about 75 miles and it melted a big pink wire plus other wires that it was touching across the dash wiring harness. I got the harness out today and it is melted. Or the big pink wire and other wires is also.

The issue was that it would not start after the wiring harness melted. Or that is what the seller told me. I now have another wiring harness installed and am going to have to put a steering column in it because they have cutt all the wires for some reason. My main question is what would cause the harness to melt. Would leaving the ground off under the hood cause this? I am just afraid it may happen to the new harness when I put the power to it. Please reply soon with your thoughts.
