Every time I start thinking "I'm too old" or "I'm have too little time" to do my own repairs, all I have to do is look at the price for labor and the price of replacement vehicles and I'm cured. LOL

I did have a transmission shop rebuild my transmission for me though. That would have been outside my skills range. Otherwise, I try to do it all myself. Good thing I also still get satisfaction from doing my own repairs.

Anyway, they called me today said 'fuel pump" which I suspected. Wasn't getting fuel for some reason and couldn't hear the pump running. Checked fuses and swapped relays with no results. Anyway they quoted me $678. I checked prices and I can pick one up before my discounts for $200-$269 locally. So $400 in labor seems a little steep but time and currently no garage and laying outside in the dark in sub freezing temps. Guess I'll pay the $400. Lol
Don't feel too bad. I broke down 75+ miles from home, ended up between a rock and a hard spot, and paid a USAA facility $1000.00 for a new pump and tow. My options were not in my favor.

Stopped at store couple months ago on my way home....crank, no start...could hear the fuel pump eating itself....USAA covered the tow to the shop....When they dropped the tank, they broke something.....had to get used tank and new fuel pump...$1100 total bill....

would have tackled job myself but working 10hr days 6 days a week...little to no time...
