Default E-brake won't fully disengage!

Cant seem to get my emergency brake to fully disengage. In fact, for about 10 minutes I couldn't get it to disengage at all! I attempted to rock the vehicle gentle by reversing and it seemed to disengage enough for forward motion but its very clear its still somewhat engaged. Help!

sounds like a frozen cable either lubricate or replace, could also be stuck at the wheel

I'm new to this and seem to have the same problem my ebrake disengages but the light is still on and when I move forward or reverse I can feel a drag and it won't go above 1st gear

Danjo, Here's what I did. A) Grasp pedal with one hand and pull upward while pulling out on release. (That eliminated the tension) B) Then I ignored it for 3 years... Just never set the parking brake.

After 3 years I did this to actually fix it. Get under the car with some cleaner like 409 or windex. 1) Clean all the Ebrake cables for about 3 inches wherever they go into something else. 2) Spray a cleaning lubricant like wd40 on the cable and try to work it into those areas that the cable moves through. 3) Step hard on Ebrake pedal 4) Go back under car and repeat all steps (1-4) since you will have exposed 2-3 inches of cable. 5) Go back inside and perform step A from above... You will need to do this entire sequence several times. Each time, things should move more freely. Eventually, mine was able to release normally just by pulling on the release. Good Luck
