Default Emission Test

I have totally forgot that I need to get my Blazer emission tested. A month of veterinarian bills will make you forget alot! Problem is I've been driving the truk with a malfunctioning secondary air pump, doesn't work? Has brought up the same code all three times( I forget) but it said secondary air pump and my mechanic friend said it's usually frozen or shot.

Will the truck pass a smog or emission test in Canada with the pump not circulating?

The parameters tested in 2006 were HC PPM(hydrocarbons parts per million)?: limit/max=52 my reading then 22 during 40km/hr driving test, curb idle test was limit/max=150 my reading 18.

CO % limit/max .29 my reading .03 for the drive portion and curb idle was a limit/max=.7 and my reading was .02.

NO ppm(NOX parts per million)? limit/max =0578my reading was a 6. They did not administer a curb idle for NO testing.

That's what they test in Ontario Canada other than checking your gas cap etc. Will it pass with the pump failure or should I bite the bullet and try to get it fixed before the test? Reeeaaallly expensive in Canada and to cold to perform job myself outside.

It should still come withen specs, but if they test for codes you WILL fail at that point. Most tests also include checking for codes, and there cannot be any. The fix is pretty easy, and not all that expensive, just get the new pump, hose assembly, and a new fuse. The fuse is located on the inner fender, behind the battery, that usually blows when the pump locks up, and the pumps lock up allot!! I do that job all the time. What happens is the old hose assembly allows water into the pump assembly, and then it seizes up the pump. The new hose assembly stops the water intrusion. HTH..

I don't believe they checks codes up here. The fuse was blown so the pump is probably frozen or seized. Do I need to get the updated part from GM or do aftermarket companies supply these? Thanks.

What province are you in? They don't check for codes in BC.

If you're looking for a new pump, check aftermarket and the dealer. I almost always check a few places and I'm sometimes surprized that the dealer is less expensive.

I live in Ontario. I'm pretty sure they don't test across Canada. We have a great parts store where I'm located, APC I think. Partsare cheap and are Ac Delco. Hub bearing assembly at the dealer ran around $450, other aftermarket places wanted anywhere from 370-400$ with limited warranty. Parts from this store were 315.00 plus tax and supposed life time warranty. I'll check with the dealer though ,thanks for the input.
