Default just bought a used tranny!

Hey guys I just bought a used tranny, I have a 1997 4x4 chevy blazer LS automatic tranny, and the tranny I purchased is off of a 1998 Jimmy. It is a GM 4L60E transmission that I purchased, and the guy said it is the right one guaranteed....Did I purchase the right tranny???

99.9999999% sure you did. i dont think there was any changes in 97 and 98. install it with good fluid,add fluid to the torque convertor before you put that in,add a bottle of lucas trans fix,and have fun.

thanks man but why would i put a bottle of tranny fix in???? would it simply be a preventative measure?

yep. that stuff is great. I dont really like the whole fix in a bottle stuff. but ive put it in many transmissions and it always helps unless your trans is just burnt out.

Its a great $10 investment. its been known for good results.

for fluid,make sure you put in decent fluid like castrol etc.

oh yeah man tomorrow I am gonna take the pan off, clean up, and change the oil filter, and clean up everything inside u know like new.....I am gonna go buy a tranny filter kit tomorrow,,,,,,,do u know if it will come with the tranny pan gasket???......like is there a gasket fr the tranny pan?

??????

Well, just ask for the filter kit. If there is one needed it will come with it because like you cant cahnge the filter without pulling the pan.

Here's a tip. Be very careful with the filter port. Make sure o ring comes out, clean it and be careful not to push any crud up into the port .. use a good light and q tips if necessary.
