Default my audio system just stops for a second and starts again randomly

the problem is as above, and i still have the factory stuff on my 96 blazer, i cant afford to change anything yet and im not sure what the problem is
i'd really appreciate any suggestions
i think it might be the wiring, but have no clue how to fix it or test my theory

When you say stops, does the screen go blank and everything on it, or does just the speakers go mute. Most likely it is a lose connector on the rear of the head unit.

Factory 95-96 stereos are garbage IMHO.

Could be a cold solder on the incoming power feed on the circuit board in the back. Could be intermittent or poor ground. Could be a lot of things...
