Default 01 Blazer no start when cold

Hi I just bought a 2001 blazer extreme and it has trouble starting when cold. If I spray injector cleaner in the intake it will fire right up and run good. It will restart for upto 6 hours after the first initial start with no problem. But any longer and it's hard to start again. Dose any body have any suggestions?

Yea, good luck with this one. Many componenets could be contributing to this..
I have an '01 Blazer ZR2 (115k miles) and I'm still chassing down the problem.

One theory with this, when the truck sits for a while, the fuel system looses vacuum and it requires several OFF-ON then OFF -ON turns of the iginition for the fuel pump to prime the line.

So I originally Assumed a Fuel or Fuel Tank issue;
New Gas Cap. No change.
So I replaced the fuel filter and the CFI with the MFI spidder injection. (the typical bad poppet theory, and it includes the new fuel regulator) and it didn't fix it.
Plugs and wires have 25K miles, so I'm skipping this for now.
New Coil. (WTH, original has prob meet the end), but no change.
New EGR valve, PVC valve, purge valve Solenoid , Vapor Canistor Purge valve...Still didn't fix it.

There's a GM bulletin describing this same "Hard Crank" condition and describes replacing the distributor. This is my latest approach..

Are you getting any codes?
My scan tool is telling me I'm getting random missfires. I'll get the flashing SES, or solid SES light and it'll clear itself after a bit of driving. No noticeable knock, or sputter, it seems to drive fine.
Because of this I decided to try a new Distributor and I just finished installing it (nice aluminum one with all new components). We'll see how this goes.

After a 10min test ride with the new distributor I have no codes. I just need to understand if I need to adjust my cam-retard or not and how to do it. Scan tool is saying I'm at -5.8*.

Also, I read somewhere that someone had a similar issue and it turned out to be a rusted pin hole in the gas filler neck.
And it could be a bad fuel pump... or simply a bad gas cap..

I would start with this...
Priming the fuel line a couple times and see if it starts easier. If so, then try a new gas cap and new fuel filter. And if that doesn't work, you're looking at everything I just mentioned.

Thanks jamesavenue I don't have the truck licensed yet so I can't take her for a drive yet. I understand that the truck has sat for almost a year befor I bought it. I have to still get a coda reader and hopefully I can get her on the road soon. Thank you again and I will post my progress .
