Default 02 blazer, stuck E-Break

So I was cleaning my under carriage, and rotating my tires. I put the E-break/parking break on and when I was done, I couldn't get it to disengage. I ended up having to snap the E-break wire to get the break to disengaged. So I'm driving around with the wire snapped and the E-break peddle still to the floor. Which is causing the light in my cluster to stay lit. Anyone ever have this issue, and does anyone have a solution, to getting the peddle un stuck so I can reconnect my E-break line. Thanks in advance guys.

There's a spring on the parking brake that could have come unhooked or broken. Try pulling the brake release handle while lifting the pedal. If that doesn't work check the cable that connects the release handle to the lever at the top of the pedal.

My 98 had a similar problem. The e-brake would not "spring back" while pulling the release. I had to grab the bottom of the pedal with one hand while pulling the release with the other. Pedal came back up. Wheels turned freely (no dragging) I drove without using the ebrake for about a year, then spent about 45 minutes under the car lubing the cables. Specifically where the raw cables go into the protective sheath under the drivers door at the adjuster. 0) Drove front of car on ramps so front was higher than rear so gravity would assist flow of lubricant 1) Step on pedal to expose cable. 2) Spray PB Blaster on cable and down sheath 3) Release and Pull on ebrake pedal. 4) Repeat over and over again. You will make extremely slow progress, but I could "feel" a difference. It's been working now for over a year.
