Default 03 engine going into 98 blazer questions

I need new engine for my 98 blazer and have found an 03 engine low miles. I have been told that bolts on back of block are metric, that hole needs to be drilled and tapped 1/4 npt for sensor, intake needs to be taken off old engine and put on new 03, old engine has egr and new engine does not and what should I do? I think this is all I was told. Does anyone have info on other things that need to be done to make the 03 fit.

Thanks dreu62

Drill out the hole in the bell housing where the knock sensor attaches & tap it to 1/4" NPT. Swap over your intake manifold, but keep the injection spider from the new engine. All you need to swap is the lower intake. Everything else should be good.

I put an 02 motor in my 98 and all I did was tap the block for the knock senser. I didnt change the exhaust manifold or the intake manifold because I didnt want any thing to do with that stupid EGR vavle that little bugger was nothing but trouble.. The only down side to this is the SES light will always be on but every truck I have ever owned has had the light on so It didnt matter to me. If you change one of them you have to change both of them because of a three quarter inch hose that runs from the intake manifold to the exhaust manifold. So both or neither that is the question .Light or posibly no light is the other one.
