05 Jimmy not starting
hi guys, been awhile since I logged in.
I used to own this 05 GMC Jimmy that is currently been sitting for 2 years. I moved out and left the Jimmy with my parents. So it was out of my hands for 4 years.
My parents are planning on getting a truck, not sure what kind, and want to get rid of the Jimmy. They are giving it to me for free but it doesn't start.
My dad said it died all of a sudden while in reverse, and it hasn't started ever since. The engine will crank.
I told him to change the plugs and wires as I'm pretty sure it hasn't been changed since I handed it over. He tried a new agm battery that he purchased for this blazer, and nothing.
Anything else I can check/change?

Although plugs and wires probably need to be changed, need to begin with basic troubleshooting: fuel, spark, air; then go from there. Also check for any codes that were set and may still be in memory.
First verify that your coil is putting out spark when cranking. Unplug the coil wire at the distributor end and clip a loose spark plug into the end of the wire from the coil. Ground the spark plug to engine metal with a pair of vice grips and have someone crank the engine while you watch the spark plug. If you get spark, go on to the fuel system diagnosis described here. If not please report and we will help.

Fuel pressure gauges can be borrowed (with deposit) from many local parts stores.
On a 2005 expect regulated fuel pressure with key on engine off to be around 58 psi (not 60+).
Please test all four values and report.
