1995 4.3 engine problems?
Hello all! I'm a new member who just purchased (very cheap i might add) a 1995 4x4 with a 4.3 that was locked up because of the oil cooler line problem. I would like to know what other issues the 4.3 had so I can fix/upgrade them while the engine is out. I'm thinking things like head gasket problems, weak oil pump ETC. Any advice and info. will be welcome and greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your time!

1995 used 2 different fuel injection systems and 3 different computer controls. If you need to replace the engine, you'd best stick with a 95 with the same systems that are on it now. Head gasket issues are almost unheard of on this engine, unless you cook it. Along with repairing the damage already done, it might not be a bad idea to replace the oil pump bypass valve. It is located in the block, the oil filter adapter must be removed to access it. It is pressed into the block and staked in place. Parts are under $10 and if the old one is weak, replacing it will improve oil pressure, especially at idle. If the vehicle is a late production, (with an OBDII connector under the dash) you will need to perform the crankshaft position sensor relearn, and check/adjust camshaft retard, both are done with a capable scan tool.
