Default 1995 Blazer Brakes

My blazer is real touchy when I leave the driveway in the gravel. I can just barely touch the pedal and they lock up and slide, but once I get out in the pavement they are fine, anyone know what this could be?

Front brakes? Rear brakes? Left side? Right side? What has been done recently to the brakes? Did it just start happening, or has it gradually gotten worse?

If all four are locking up, the problem is something that's common to all 4 wheels.... the power brake booster would be the first place to look, then the master cylinder.

it may just be the rear drums. (if you have drums) its a known problem as ive found many threads on it and it happens to my dads blazer when it rains. Only thing ive found to fix it is to clean the brake dust and re adjust the brakes, even thats a hit or a miss.

A 95 has rear drum brakes.

The shoes could be adjusted to tightly and lock-up on the gravel. Pull the wheels off and use a screwdriver to loosen the rear shoes a bit. There is a hole in the drum that allows this. There is a gear inside that adjusts the shoe tension on the drum. On the driver's side: insert screwdriver so handle is low, then bring handle up. This should loosen the tension. The passenger's side is opposite.

Now I may have this backwards...so after a couple of tries, if the drum does not pull off, change direction and try again.
