I just picked up a 1995 chevrolet s10 4x4 standard cab with the 4.3 vortec 5 speed. My problem is that under hard braking(as in someone stops short in front of me) my oil pressure guage will go down to zero and my check guages light will come on but once i am stoped my oil pressure will go back up to its normal 40 psi. If anyone could be able to explain this to me that would be great, im just trying to figure out if i should be worried about it.

 

that usually indicates that it is low on oil..pull the dipstick and check it.

 

the oil is at the proper level. and was just changed. any other ideas ?

 

i was just going to edit my previous post and add that a faulty oil sending unit will cause it too...Its located at the back of the intake to the right of the distributor

 

i actally have a spare sending unit from my 2001 jimmy so i think i will try that tomorow thanks for your help and i will post my results.
