1996 blazer
I have a 1996 blazer s/10 4 wd ,4 speed over drive transmsion.
without warning the tansmsionwill not shfit to thred or forth geers.
it stays in scond geer.the transmsion engages when i shfit from P to R
and from N to D but it will not shfit fromscondto thred or forth.
is their a control sensor would cause the transmsion to act this way.

RE: 1996 blazer
It could be a shift solenoid inside the transmission valve body. Is there a MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) or Service Engine Soon??? There should be a stored DTC in the computer and getting it scanned should tell you what maybe causing the problem...but some of the codes can be kinda confusing though, but you should get it scanned and then report back with the codes...

RE: 1996 blazer
I sort of have the same problem. My blazer starts fine and has a strong engine. I have a 1996 4dr 4WD. I have reverse, neutral, 1st and 2nd... But when i take off, once i get to about 20mph, or 2500rpms, i have to let off the gas for a second to let it shift and if i dont it just revs out and doesnt shift. I think i have 1,2,and 3rd gear. no 4th or 5th. Can anyone PLEASE Help me? What would cause this and how do i fix it?
