Default 1996 Blazer

I live in San Diego, Ca. I went to get my Blazer Smog checked today and it came up OBD system not ready. I have had some battery issues a couple months back but have not had any problems since. Is there something I can do to correct this or do I need to take it to a shop? Kind of tight on money so if I can avoid extra expense it would help.

Not sure about San Diego area, are there AutoZones or O'Riley's that will bring out a OBD reader and pull codes for free around you? If so, try that and see if the system is at least "talking" and not dead. If the code reader comes back with no communication, then could be a simple broken wire at the OBD connector, OBD connector terminals dirty, etc.

Get back and let us know.
