Default 1997 Jimmy Rear glass wont release.

Okay, I researched this but cannot find an answer.

The button for the rear hatch is good ( continunity between the orange and gray wire)
The black with the white striped wire is has power to it all times.
If i put power manually to the actuator it works perfect.

if i wiggle the plug the actuator will work. just once. in order to get it to work again i have to unplug and plug in a bunch of times.

now last night while shifting between reverse and drive the actuator worked, opening the rear glass. in traffic.

anybody have any advise?

Sounds like you have some crossed wiring somewhere. Either that or a messed up switch.

welll its all factory wiring, I don't even know where to look for a schematic. The local autoparts store doesn't even have a repair manual for a blazer/jimmy
Can anyone lend a helping hand?

Unhappy Rear glass release

Hi, I am having the same problem that you have discribed regarding your rear window. Did you solve it? I tried to open the window by using the emergency release per the instructions in the owners manual but have not had any success. My mechanic is going to look at it tomorrow morning.

I know that mine will not open unless the vehicle is in park. I figured this out when I tried to let my friend get some stuff out after I dropped him off. I shifted into park and it was opened. I could be possible that there is an independent switch in the shifting column. Or it could be tied in with the rest of the systems that relate to the shifter location(Park, reverse, drive, etc).

To the OP, here is a schematic for your lift gate (see attached). If you are really interested in working on your truck, you probably should look into picking up a factory service manual set or getting an account with AllDataDIY.com.

Alright, it took me a few months to figure it out. Well i noticed the Key lock for the tailgate didnt work, So i went and got a new lock from the junkyard. Long behold i noticed that the round part is susposed to move in and out. pressing in on the lock releases the hatch. My lock was broke and forced in, causing the switch to be closed, and why it would open randomly especially in between gears, and why the relay wouldnt work because it was always engaged lol.

Stupid problem ffs.
