Question 1998 blazer park neutral interlock

My 1998 blazer will not start. I think it is because the neutral/park interlock on the automatic tranny has malfunctioned. Can I unplug the multipin plug from the side of the tranny and start the vehicle?

The P/N switch is a normally open connection and only closes when in park or neutral so disconnecting the wiring would not help. You can jumper +12V to terminal 85 on the relay and get the starter to turn over if the only problem is the P/N switch.
