I just purchased my first car a 1998 chevy blazer, I'm really loving it although the temp/compass isn't working, the mechanic I bought it from said that it was just dead. I'm not sure if I can fix it or replace it or just accept that it's dead .

 

I have a 96 Blazer and my overhead display went out. If you take the compass out and seperate the plastic pieces that hold the circuit board and display. There are 2 small rectangular resistors in the lower right corner. Sometimes the solder will break on either of them. Re-soldered them both and my display came back.
