Default 1999 blazer Ls front end noise

Hi im new to this site as far as posting.I think there is a great number of people here who are good people. So my blazer was making a growling front end noise. Now it does not do it when speeding up only when I let off gas. When I brake it really growls and at about 5mph I can here a clicking sound.I thought maybe it was a bad wheel bearing or cv .First replaced wheel bearing made no difference.Next replaced cv still no difference. Now I can tell it comes from front pass side.Im really frustrated that I cant seem to know where to go next.if anyone has had this same problem or know what it coud be please let me know. Also the encoder motor is out so 4wd doesn't work .So its not half engaged.

Under the battery tray is the front axle actuator, disconnect the vacuum line from it, and drive it. post your results.

Default front end noise solved

yes that did the trick pulled vacume line from actuator and no more growl from front end.so my question to you now is why was it engaging?it just all the sudden started.maybe bad switch?thank you very much.could have saved money on wheel bearings.cv boot had a tear so would have done it sometime and upper and lower ball joints needed replaced anyway.thanks again.

Does the switch on the dash have 3 buttons or 4?

On the firewall, slightly to the passenger side of center, is there a switch that looks like this:

Should have two vacuum lines and one electrical connector with two wires in it.

The switch on the transfer case is the problem. GM has a new, revised one, part # 89059420 and cost is ~$40. Most auto parts stores have them in the Dorman brand for around $20, but some of our members have had trouble with them... your choice You will need a 7/8" deep socket, and about 15 minutes time to change it. The connector is rubber with 3 vacuum lines. It is keyed so it will only go on one way, but be careful as it is possible to mess it up
