Default 1999 blazer tccm replacement question

Is it truly just plug and play? Mechanic said tccm went bad and I was able to snag a new one for $300. he wanted 800 for the total fix but if its straight forward I would like to do just do it myself. Is there anything I should know before hand?

it seems to be just plug and play. i unplugged my old one and plugged in the new one and off i went. everything seems to work properly. but you should probably do a battery disconnect as well. that's what i did.

99% of the time, the connectors and the wire clips that are inside the connectors that plug into the tccm are corroded to the point of no contact. I would have looked at those before buying a tccm. If the wires and plugs are clean its plug and play. Use some dielectric grease.

What is the vehicle doing? Service 4wd light and no lights on 4wd switch?

the tccm is located in the passenger kick panel, pull off he cover, unplug the connector, there are 3 10mm nuts to remove, pull out the tccm, place in the new one, tighten the 3 nuts, plug in the tccm, push the cover back on.. DONE $500 saving for 5 min work? sounds fishy to me....

if he thinks your tccm is fried I would recommend trying a good one before buying a new one. you can just unplug your old one and plug in the known working one without actually unbolting the old one.. for testing purposes
