Hello! I bought a UK spec 1999 Chevy Blazer today since I couldn't bring my 2000 Blazer with me from the states. While driving I get blasted with heat in the cab. Regardless of where I set the auto control to temperature wise or vent setting wise it just blows hot air. I read around the forums a little bit and I think it might be the blend door actuator. I tried messing with it with the engine off and it will blow cold-ish air out while the engine isn't running. I'm just looking to see if someone could confirm that the blend door actuator is probably the culprit or maybe if you might know of something else that could be causing the problem. Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah that actually doesn't help me at all. Anyone on here that can validate that that is most likely the bad part or have another in mind? Ordering parts in England is expensive and takes a little while so I'd rather get it right the first time around.

 

Did u get the problem resolved with the climate control? mine is doing the same thing. my blend door actuator rolled all the way to the hot position. I checked the connector for and it has power to the hot. so I'd say it's my auto climate control unit. I just wanted to get some opinions before I ordered

 

Yeah, that's probably it. I had that problem. Couldn't get hot hot air to defrost the window. It's a little motor on top off the hvac unit. I just took mine off, took the part out of the motor that hooks on the door out and put it on the part of the door that it grabs. Then with a coat hanger and a little engineering i have a handle to spin it under the dash. There are two options to replace it depending on which model you have. I believe the cheaper was around $40 and if you have the auto air settings, as I do, the one for that was $130ish. From what I read that's a common problem with them. They have plastic gears that strip after a while. The new ones are supposed to have metal I guess. A telltale sign is turn it from hot to cold and if you hear a clicking sound that's the gear skipping.

 

Mine isn't the actuator motor I have already replaced that first for a broken gear. It has power to the heat side of the motor. I can jump the hot-cold terminals and get it to reverse to the cold. Mine is the auto air and think it's in the temp switch it self. I had read somewhere that it might just be a diode but can't find it again.
