2000 4x4 Chevy Blazer Alternator Replacement
Hey all, so I'm sorry for the extremely delayed response. Got the alternator changed with the right one, couldn't see the number anymore since it was so old so I just got a guy to bring the two different kinds out and got the right one. Unfortunately my belt noise came back after a day of driving. I'll make a new post about that as it is really annoying and I'm kinda tired of throwing money at it and not fixing it (although the alternator was obviously bad, sounded like I had sand in trying to turn it freely).
This belt will fix it, guarenteed
make sure you order the right belt for your truck
Newguy, is the GdYr Gatorback you listed going to fix the squeal because of the gatorback design or the 1" longer size. I had read a post in this thread by 'Burned' that the AD 244 required a one inch longer belt. Is that particular GdYr Gatorback a one inch longer than stock belt?
Per Burned:
'Putting in a AD244 with a 1" longer belt is a better idea. That squealing is the alternator.'

Rock Auto catalog is the only place I have seen that shows the length of the belt. I can imagine going into an Auto Zone or Advance Auto store and asking for a belt one inch longer than stock. Does NAPA have that kind of info? Where can you get that info?
I wasn't recommending a belt for getting rid of the noise. The AD244 alternator requires a 1" longer belt because it sits higher than the stock alt.
The noise could be coming from a bearing. It could be the idler pulley, AC compressor, water pump....etc. Get a piece of garden hose and have a listen at all the things the belt comes in contact with.
