Default 2000 Blazer fuel pressure regulator installation

Have 2000 Blazer. 4 speed, LS model. Want to install the Delphi FP10075 fuel pressure regulator.

Need how-to-guide with step by step. Have looked far and wide but cannot find. Can someone provide a link to one?

One mechanic told me that I would also have to install the upper manifold gasket. Is this true? If so I'm confused about which one it is. He also mentioned plenum but I dont believe that is the same thing.

I already purchase the FP10075 and now I need to purchase the appropriate gasket if needed.

thanks

Just recently did mine , a 2004 Blazer. It is a pain. The Plenum and upper manifold are the same thing. Once you get this off the vehicle you will see the spider assembly. It has 6 lines running from it to the injectors. It sits in a bracket and can be removed to access the pressure regulator which sits on the back of it. There is a clip that has to be pried up to release the regulator. Be sure all the parts from the old one are out before installing the new one. I used a mirror to see the insides clearly. I didn't replace the plenum gasket but cleaned everything spotless and had no problems. Mine still wouldn't start after all that and finally discovered the NAPA cap and rotor I had replaced less than a year before was bad. Runs perfectly now.

Just curious how did you determine it was the FPR?

Most of the time you already have taken the plenum off to inspect it to see if it's bad. Pay attention to what vadatara said. It did not cure his problem, don't open the package until the plenum is off.

A previous mechanic told me he smelled gas and thought it was FPR. I also smell it and when I try to accelerate from a stand still, it takes a few seconds.
I dont mind replacing it. Its an old truck and could benefit from the new part.

What do you mean by "dont open the package until the plenum is off."?

What parts?

I really appreciate your advice.
