Default 2000 Blazer Horn Honks When Turning

I have a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4 that has horn issues. My horn honks when I make left or right turns. First time it happened I wondered why the guy behind me was honking at me. It doesn't seem to matter if the turn signal is on though it usually is. The problem was fairly intermittent but is starting to happen regularly. I am guessing that the horn switch is shorting to ground somehow when I turn the steering wheel but I wanted some outside input especially since the airbag is in that area before I go digging around. I guess I now know why the previous owner had the horn relay removed.

I would suspect a problem with the clock spring. This is especially worrisome given the fact that the airbag also relies on the clock spring for it's operation.

I ended up taking it to a mechanic because I didn't want to deal with pulling the steering wheel. Apparently when I replaced the ignition switch and locking cylinder I didn't install a bolt correctly (no idea how that was possible) and it would short the horn when turning the wheel. I didn't think that could be the problem because the horn didn't start honking for over a month after I made the repair. So much for saving money on that repair. Thanks for the ideas though.

So I spoke with the mechanic who actually worked on my Blazer because I thought it was weird that the ignition switch would cause this. Turns out a screw on the Multi-Function Switch was backing out and the clock spring was slightly misaligned which resulted in the short. This being a common problem with Blazer's makes much more sense than the ignition switch causing the short.
