Default 2000 Blazer Starting and Mileage Issues

Hello everyone! i have used this forum to correct many problems and used it for how to guides! Great stuff

2000 blazer Lt 4dr 4x4 193,500 miles

Symptoms:- Rough Clunky Start into smooth idle (have to be quick with the key, short bursts to start, if key held in start position, just cranks)

- Rumble in the exhaust after revs, lingers for 2 to 3 seconds

- Poor Gas Mileage, around 13-14 city 17.4 highway, one year ago was around 19-21 highway (i know it doesn't sound that bad, but is a change)

- It drives "good" otherwise and shifts smoothly, but has changed for the worse in the last year

Things I have Done to the Engine:

- Cleaned MAF, Installed New 195 thermostat, Oil changes on schedule, Air filter changes, new lube in rear Diff, has green coolent,
Good tires and has no leaks of any fluid outside or inside engine

What i think i should work on, EGR cleaning, PCV clean, Catalytic Converter ?? Fuel pump, O2 sensors?

Don't have unlimited funds and no garage !

what do you experts think i should start on?
thanks for you help

I would say that you should clean the EGR valve, replace the PCV (cheap enough), and possibly change the O2 sensors (AC Delco) if you have never changed them. I am not sure if I would speculate anything being wrong with the fuel pump, but you could check the pressure (run through the article in the DIY section with a fuel pressure tester). As far as the catalytic converter is concerned, I think you would notice other driveability concerns if it was the problem.

thanks man, i cleaned out the EGR, wasn't as dirty as i would of thought, replaced the gasket on it, replaced the PCV valve. i have a long haul tomorrow so i'll check out the gas mileage highway, see if it has gotten better. still has the weird rumble in exhaust tho, could there be too much back pressure? only on revs and occasionally on the road, truck is a champ otherwise, pulled so many of my friends out of the snow during this last storm, and tore it up in fields!

blazers are awesome..

thanks man
