I think I am going to take it to another mechanic for a 2nd opinion. Wants to charge me $650 for the tuneup and change the Intake manifold gasket. He also gave me a list of things I need done: front and rear brakes, rotors, r axle seal, l axle, transmission output shaft seal, oil cooling lines, idler arm, bushings...............2nd opinion may clear things up. Bummed in Da Bronx.

You said you have had this truck for 2 weeks and you have a 60 day warranty?? I would take that list and tell them..."Thanks. Let me know when you guys are done with replacing all of these things you said are bad FREE OF CHARGE!" What did they warranty?...their license plate frame?? I am assuming from the way this is going that they just gave you the typical "Lemon Law" coverage for 60 days.

This is why I can't stand dealers and do all my own work.

Hey guys. Sorry it's been a while since my last post. I took the blazer to the mechanic that honors the warranty. He said there was nothing wrong with the axles and most of the other stuff that had to be done immediately. SO here's what I got done, upper and lower intake manifold gaskets and valve cover gaskets changed. Replace Bosch plugs with AC Delco platinum plugs? Parts and labor = $600. Compared to $650 my mechanic wanted to change the lower intake manifold gasket and a tuneup. Although I still think I am paying too much(remember that 50/50 warranty? It doesn't cover gaskets but mechanic said he will get them to cover 30%). I am just glad I got something done. Your opinion?
