Angry 2000 chevy blazer cluster

Well first of all I am a total newb when it comes to the blazer. but I like the truck it sucks that I always get constant trouble from it.
well anyways here whats going on; I bought this truck a few months back and the cluster hasnt worked ever since. I thought that by buying a used cluster from ebay with the same specifications would fix the problem but it didn't. today I replaced the ignition switch with a duralast one from autozone and still nothing. My cluster lights up but nothing else works including the prnd321, odometer, gas, temp. for some reason the lower gauges; " volt and oil pressure" do work but nothing else. I have checked all fuses and everything seems fine, I am running out of Ideas and I really dont want to take it to the stealership
Hepl!!!!

Default Cluster issues...

Hey! Sorry I have no definitive answers, but a good search of this site and others should
assist. It could be module/relay/sensor problem or as simple as bad ground/wiring issue.
Troubleshooting can take time...
Similar problem on my 97,but only affects the temp gauge, after ascertaining that all was normal by temporarilly installing an after market guage under the hood, i'm gonna live with it
until I come on the solution(which maybe I have) Good luck to you.

Do the lights (ABS, check engine, service 4WD, brake, .etc) light up with a bulb check when you turn the key on? Does the cluster you replaced behave any differently than the one you replaced? With a test light or meter check RDO BATT fuse for power (fuse 19 in the dash) for power. Also check fuses #11 CLSTR and #4 GUAGES for power when you turn the key on.

thank You Step66 for your quick reply
Ron jon; The cluster behaves exactly the same as the old one. I am going to do a few tests today to see if I can diagnose the problem. None of the lights work except the check engine light. Ill let you guys know how it goes.

I tested a few things, all of the fuses on the door have power but #6 and #12 but I dont think it has anything to do with the cluster. I took the cluster out and tested the terminals; ground is good as well as ignitions 0,1, and 3.
but A10; battery voltage has no power, A6 Class 2 no power and A4 vss input has no power. im going to keep digging If anyone can give me any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Nice info. A10 should have power at all times and comes from the RDO BATT fuse. A6 is logic and can only be viewed with an oscilloscope, I don't think the pulses will register on a DVM. Ditto on A4, logical pulses only when vehicle is moving

I dont know how I could have missed it in the first place, it was the rdo batt fuse. I had to go all the way to the cluster and test it to realize that the fuse whats the only thing wrong in the circuit. I know I know I am an Idiot lol but give me credit for admitting it and thank ron jon for your help!!!
now off to change my fuel pump that left me stranded right in front of work:-( fml

The stealership would have fixed it for less than the cost of the parts you put on that were not related.

Ignition switches fail often enough you can tell yourself it's "preventative maintainance". Personally I'd be more upset at myself if I paid someone $75 to replace a blown fuse (and you know the dealer charges at least that to start looking at a vehicle).
