2000 engine replacement
I have a 2000 Blazer. I need to replace the engine. The place i was going to get an engine from states that there were 4 type of engines in 2000 Blazers. The block number ends in 090M or 090 and each of these has two versions whether the knock senor has one or two wires. Mine has one wire to the knock sensor but have not found a block number that ends in 090. The only number i found was 12559523 on the passenger side of the block. Where is the block number located?
you can put an engine from one that is newer also, just drill/tap for the knock sensor and swap the intake/exhaust manifolds.... I'm in the process of doing just that with my 2000 blazer, putting a newer 2003 engine into it... have the engine in, just need to finish bolting the bellhousing up and the torque converter and put everything back together.
Finished mine 1500 miles ago bellhousing bolts are a pain.
There is a new thread where people have been the easiest way to deal with this,
one suggestion was removing the motor mounts first and lowering the motor to gain more room.
Good Luck

i replaced my 00 blazers motor last year with a 01 from an astro van and the only issue i had was the knock sensor i kept the 00 style as that is the correct one for my ecm and just drilled and tapped the hole, if i recall right i was the one wire type and the 2001 knock sensor was smaller in diameter where it threaded in plus it had 2 wires. i also changed the driverside exhaust manifold with the stock one for my 2000 for clearance everything else bolted/plugged right in

I don't plan on keeping my truck for more then a few years so I just punched a hole in the firewall near the accelerator and will patch with some silicone and sheetmetal once i'm done.
