Default 2001 blazer LT

Please help! 2001 LT . "rear body harness" burnt up/corroded in a couple of
areas........... dealer says part no longer available from chevy/gm.......and even if
itwas, there's no guarantee this won't happen again..(cause has not been determined)
I can't afford to junk the car nor do I want to. Any suggestions?

Replace the burnt wires... Splice in good wire. Kind of tedious, but if you cannot find a used replacement, that's about the only solution. Good part is it won't cost you much if you can do it yourself. Just takes patience and time.

I'm going to be rebuilding the whole harness from my Chevelle myself because the replacements are too darn expensive.

I would ask for clarificaiton on "rear body harness burnt." GM does have an obligation to keep parts available for the vehicles that they sell. If you can't find at a salvage yard, maybe the dealer has got you asking for the wrong item. With the massive numbers of S10 Blazers on the road, many of them wrecked and now off the road, I can't imagine a salvage yard not being able to supply you with ANYTHING you need. Or, jump the "burnt" spots with new wire. That is probably the most cost effective way to fix. Just make sure that you do it right!

I believe that OEM 'obligation' ends after 5 years after which they can carry those parts which are deemed replacement parts for as long as they like. Even if they have the rear harness available, I'm betting that you'll have a heart attack when you see the price! Wiring harnesses are not considered replacement parts.
