Default 2001 blazer not starting.

hey guys my brothers 01 blazer 4x4 will not start.

he has been driving his saturn for about a week and he went to go start the blazer today and all it did was crank tell the battery went dead.

hooked up some jumper cables and it still won't start.

it cranks over fast.

you can hear the fuel pump running but it doesn't sound nearly as loud as my 2000 fuel pump.

i also touched the schraeder valve near the distributor and it is getting fuel. i know i need to get a fuel pressure gauge because these vortecs are picky when it comes to the right pressure.

it had a new fuel pump put in about 3 years ago by the PO , have receipts and it is not an AC/delco one...

it will cough and sputter after you turn it over for a while and act like it's "dieseling"

i'm leaning more towards ignition related parts since it just started and these fuel pumps get weaker over time but i have seen a few that just flat out work then don't.

any one know what the fuel pressure off hand should be at the schreider valve?

and what should my next steps be after testing fuel pressure if it is not in fact the fuel pump?

appreciate the input

My bad.
You could just need a pressure regulator, but if you go in that far you may as well replace the injector spider. And if you are in there that far why don't you just replace the lower intake gasket if you have an original gasket. Then you won't have any worries as long and you change your oil and don't drive it like you stole it. Oh never mind that. Drive it like you stole it anyway.

Nope, if you don't have the upgrade you got the same sucky poppets with the injector control in one location. If you plan to keep this, I would replace the injector with the new multi port fuel injector and discard the central port fuel injector. I'm not the greatest with the acronyms. but you get the drift.

While we just got our 'new' engine install finished today and we went with the new MFl in our 1998 S. While we had two working sets of spider injectors since new ones with real injectors on each line includes a new fuel regulator too for $182.

However I do not see in most cases how the spider could cause an a non start condition. Poor running I can see but NO fuel all is harder to understand.
