I ordered this same spider from amazon and got another brand [was not AC delco stamped], but the injectors were delphi injectors.........I sent the first spider back and got another exactly the same.........I went ahead and used the second set.......because i knew the injectors were delphi, and have not have any problems in 1k miles or so.......

I think the seller was a Las Vegas seller........I see that you are in Vegas.......If you end up with the same seller and do not get the AC spider........maybe you could contact him instead of dealing with amazon.........I would not pay the full price for "AC" if it is not AC........
good luck with the spider change, and if you have not done intake gaskets, it would be a good time to dig a little deeper and do that job while you have it apart.....then you won't have dig thru that tangled web twice......like I did.......a week after i did the spider, I blew out the intake gasket and filled the pan with coolant.......
I have a 2001 with 130k.......

Wanted to back-up don james' suggestion to replace the lower intake manifold (LIM) gaskets while you are at it. I replaced my spider while I was replacing the LIM gaskets before they burst on me. It is not much more work to do considering the piece of mind you'll have to never have to worry about those gasket leaking and ruining your engine.

When you fail at the schrader port then you should do the portion of the test at the fuel filter to rule out the fuel pump and plumbing up to that point. This forum is littered with complaints of failed replacement fuel pumps. If your good there then it the regulator or the spider.

George,

Regarding your suggestion for checking the fuel pressure at the filter, is your suggestion to do the test by disconnecting the fuel line and then putting it directly into the pressure gauge and not using a tee-fitting? That is what I would do to isolate any leak at the spider but I wanted to clarify to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Yes, pressure at the filter outlet, no tee. Fail = fuel pump assembly or its wiring/plumbing. Pass there = plumbing past that point, regulator or spider.

i replaced the spider assembly and my fuel pressure still goes to 55 and leaks below 50 after 10 minutes, so nothing has changed. i was unable to connect my old fuel pressure gauge to the fuel filter to see if the pump is leaking. i bought a new gauge that will connect right to the filter and will check that next.

ill be honest, i am starting to doubt you guys about the fuel pressure numbers having to be 55 psi after 10 minutes.

Thanks for the update.

This is the second thread I've followed where a intermittent or poor performing engine was due to a bad crank sensor. I'm putting that on my "things to check" list if I ever have a similar problem.

What was it that got you to check and change the crank sensor? And just to be sure, you are referring to the sensor on the front engine cover right?

Thanks
