2001 chevy blazer transmission type?????
 

I have a 2001 blazer lt....I'm pretty sure its a lt....4.3 vortex v6 4x4.....I have to get a new trans...but I don't know what kind....I looked and some places said a 4l60e......so I need help...whats the CORRECT transmission to get???????

Your truck has a 4L60E. If you are looking to put a used transmission in, I wouldn't recommend anything but 98 or newer.

If you do any towing put in a good band and better servo for more holding power.
Put a new torque converter in it as well with the heavy duty clutch material.

Ok thanks....i actually have to get it to Minnesota from Wisconsin....its a 5 hour drive....and I wanna drive it but idk if it will make it........what should I do?

If you don't think it will make the trip, probably shouldn't dirve it there.
Would be be bummer to get stuck some place.

Why do you need a new tranny? What is it doing?

It lost reverse....I was leaving for work and put it in reverse.and heard weird sounds so I didn't pay it no mind.......then after work I tryd to back up and it didn't move...I can go forward but have to let it get to about 2500 rpm...let my foot off the gas and it will shift.....

What kind of wierd sound?
Hopefully not any grinding type sounds, like the shell breaking.

Do you have all the gears, other than rev?
Can you manually select them all?

Are you sure your late shift isnt really a 1-3 shift?

Yeah the grinding sound stopped.......I can't select manually .......I think it still has second......but if I hit the gas too hard it just revs up and won't go anywhere......but it keeps going once I let it catch itself again

Sounds like you have a broken sun shell which takes out reverse, 2nd, & 4th. A long drive will be even longer without all of the gears, especially if it doesn't stay in 3rd...
