My S10 has started stalling while I am driving and I am stumped. It is very random. It can happen a few times a day or once a week. It happens after the engine is warm. The engine cuts off as if the key is turned to the off postion, however the dash lights and gauges are still powered. Usually it starts right back up. Sometimes it will start after a few minutes. Where do I start?

Has the "security" light on the dash come on at all during the stalling fits?

I have not noticed the security light coming on. I will double check that next time it stalls.

If it does come on, that is a sign of an ignition switch problem.

swartlkk, Thank you I really appreciate you taking the time to help.
It stalled this morning. The "security" did not come on. The rest of the lights seem to be normal for a not running condition.

You could try to do a fuel pressure test. before my fuel pump went out my 98 would stall out when braking, or after idling for a period of time and often would start back up again right away or after waiting a few minutes.

I just checked the fuel pressure.
The pressure with the engine not running is 60psi.
With the engine running it is 53psi.

Any more ideas? Check engine light is off, no pending trouble codes. I am lost.
Someone told me it could be the crankshaft position sensor. Could this be it? Rather expensive to replace without knowing for sure.

Have you ever seen any of your gauges just drop out while driving? This too would indicate a failing ignition switch.
Your fuel pressures look good. I know it is difficult, but if you could some how rig your tester up so you could monitor pressure while you are driving, that would allow you to see if the fuel pressure really fluctuates enough to possibly cause the stalling.
