Cool 2001 Shift Solenoid issues

I have a 2001 S-10 4wd Blazer that reverse gear stopped working.
At the same time, the check engine light came on and the error code says bad shift solenoid. I replaced both, flushed it and put in a new filter. Still doing the same thing and same error code. Any ideas?

I replaced both because it doesn't tell you which one. Have you had similar issues?

Exclamation No Reverse on a 2000 blazer

Mine is doing same thing. I put it in reverse, and heard a "pop" and now no reverse. It goes forward fine, but now the check engine light is on and the code says its a shift solenoid also. But I am afraid its more than that because I have seen post where its the "Reaction Sun Shell" and transmission has to be taken out to fix. And it had this link http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/Bl...se_2nd_4th.pdf Is this true? If it is how hard is it to repair?

Remember the error codes DO NOT tell you what is wrong but ONLY the location of the sensor that set the error code. You often have to work upstream to find the problem that set the code.

It gets expensive swapping parts due to error codes readout only I have found.
