2002 Blazer oil change help
I feel kind of stupid posting such a basic question on here but this is the fist time I've ever tried working on my own vehicle. I have a 2002 4WD blazer and I just want to make sure I have everything ready before I change the oil. I've located the oil filter behind the panel under the radiator but I'm a bit confused on the oil pan and drain plug location. I took a picutre of what I think it is---is that the oil drain plug? (see attachment) I just want to make sure I'm not going to empty the trans. fluid or something. Click on the thumb for bigger pic. Is there anything else I should know before doing this? thanks for any help!!
Just follow the oil lines from the filter back to the adapter on the engine. Straight down from there is the oil pan and the plug is on the driver's side about 3 inches frontward. Mine uses a 15mm wrench, but some use a 12mm.
i think the only problem you might run into is getting the old oil filter off, sometimes its like the hand of god put them on theyre so tight, a nice little upgrade to look into is going with a K&N oil filter they have a 1" nut on the bottom that makes it really simple to remove.

That looks like the same style plug thats on mine, mine is at the rear of the pan, also yes when I did the first oil change on mine after buying it the filter was very difficult to get off, even with a filter wrench it wouldn't move, ended up punching threw it with a long bar and that broke it free
