233 t-case in place of 236 t-case
Hi all, fairly new here, never posted I don't think. Anyway, my question is, will a 233 tcase work in place ofa 236 tcase? Reason I'm asking is because I have a 99 blazer with the 236 which I believe has burned out clutches, I have a 233 laying in the garage and was wondering if it would work in place of the 236, if it would bolt up, and if it would actually perform. If it will at least bolt up, that will allow me to put new clutches in the 236 without completely disabling the vehicle, which is the girlfriends only transportation. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I believe you have a 231 transfer case. Slide under your blazer and look at the tag on the back of the transfer case.

It would require a different TCCM, different PCM programming, different switch in the dash with different wiring, etc. Is it really worth all of that?

The tag says nv236. 99 Chev. Blazer 4l60e, 4- button auto 4x4, 4-door. I just started working at a Chev. dealer as a lube tech., and I asked one of the flat-rate techs. He said it would probably bolt up but I might have to reprogram the tccm. Didn't know if the wiring would all plug in or not. But even if it does bolt up and nothing works, it'll still buy me the time I would need to replace the clutches in the 236.

IIRC, the front driveshaft is different on the Auto4wd optioned trucks. I do not know if it would bolt up or not though. If all you are looking to do is install it and have it driveable in 2wd only then you would not even have to install the front driveshaft nor hook up any of the electronics.
