2nd Gen Blazer front end problems?
Hey all, I am considering buying a 4x4 Blazer for my first car. My reasoning for this is because its in my budget ($2000 or less), has 4x4 (Iowa) and seem to be in good shape for the price. However, my dad has a friend who is a mechanic who he asks anytime he is considering a car. The gut told my dad that the Blazers in the years I'm considering (1998-2001) like to eat ball joints and overall have alot of front end problems. Ive been Googling it for a while but haven't seen any complaints like that. Is this a valid opinion or is this guy thinking of something else? Also, is this a good first car? MPG isn't a huge concern for me because I'm buying a 4x4 regardless. Thanks!

Meh,not really. Only things they eat is idler arms, and lower balljoints. Buy high end grade lower bjs and a high end idler you are fine. You need to worry more about ac delco fuel pumps and lower manifold gaskets LOL. upper bjs rarely go bad. lowers take a beaten. get some robestos premium bjs or maybe moog. Nothing else.
