2nd gen motor in 1st gen
Been reading here for a while - figured it was time I joined.
I've got an '89 T-10 Blazer & a '00 Jimmy. I bought the '89 because (long story short) the '00 was an absolute lemon.
The '00 is being parted & most of it is gone. My plan is to take the motor out of the Jimmy & install it in the '89, because it uses a quart of 20W-50 (in winter) every 200 miles. I already own the motor, so I'm ahead of the game there.
The plan is to remove all the computer controlled bs from the '00, & install an Edelbrock 1403 carb & 2114 intake. I know the 700R4 will bolt right up to the '00 block.
My question is: will the distributor from the '89 block fit the '00 block?

You would need to swap the heads over since the intake manifold bolt pattern is different on the '96+ SCFI blocks. The timing cover bolt spacing is different as well so you will want to check and make sure that all of the accessory brackets, water pump, etc bolt up properly with the newer block. There may be differences in the crank pulley as well due to the presence of the CKP sensor in the timing cover on the newer block.

Thanks for the reply.
The 2114 will bolt right up to '96 + blocks, & whatever accessories were on the Jimmy I will be transferring over.
All the electronics on the '89 will also be removed, so I will need an HEI distributor. Just curious if an HEI unit will fit the '00 block. I can't seem to find any info on that anywhere.

An HEI distributor should work with the intake you have chosen. I didn't look up the intake on my initial response.
GM didn't change the distributor design below the intake really at all through the years.
