Default 3 Button 4x4

Can someone tell me the symptoms of the 3 button switch going bad ? Mine only engages 4 low and lights up 4 hi and low or nothing at all. I know there may be other problems (tell me those too) but I want to try this first, before the ghetto mod. Thanks.

Pull the dash plate off and check the wiring going to the 4x4 buttons, make sure none if it is damaged, and if it is still doing this spend the $15 to buy new button switches or get them at a junk yard..

Mine did the same thing. After spending 3 hrs. going through everything I was sitting in passenger seat with the key on tapping the handle of a screw driver in my hand and just reached over and gave the buttons a good whack. Light came on and it now works fine.
So much for logic. Must have been a bad connection or a bad solder connection. Sure it will come back but I will take it out this spring and replace it. Meantime I keep the screw driver in the door pocket.

Thanks for the replies, I agree with them. Everything was removed or replaced at least once mostly with used parts but I still think something is up with the switch. I'm going to hit the boneyard once the snow and 0 temps. lighten up.

If you have no lights that's probably the solution. Who would think that a switch used so little would cause such a problem?

I agree with that too, but I bought the Blazer used and I do not know what it has been through. Using my crystal ***** I think the original owner took good care of it and after that it was treated as a truck and nothing more. So I do not know if someone pushed the buttons once or sat there and pushed them a million times. I do know the clip is broke on the wire connector to the back so I would say someone's grubby hands were there.
