Unhappy 4.3 camshaft replacement

TAP TAP TAP this thing still work?! Been awhile since I've been online.

Anyway, I have to replace the cam in the 2002. I was wondering/hoping it could come straight out the front if I remove grille, rad etc.
It does have a 3" body lift but I don't see that causing any issues.
Has anyone done this?

ooops, Kyle can you (or another mod) move this to "2nd Gen S-series (1995-2005) Tech" where it should be? Please & TY

*Moved*

The condenser will be the trick to get out of the way far enough. The lines can sometimes be pretty unforgiving. You should be able to get it moved far enough to get the cam out though.

I am really curious as to why the cam needs replacing....since I too have a '02 model....care to share why?

It's an aftermarket cam from Lunati. Had it installed when I swapped the engine out because the previous owner fried the connecting rod bearings & I found another engine with less miles. Thought I'd swap them out & before the new-to-me engine gets installed I'd add a custom ground Lunati cam & springs.
2 rockers started to make noise, so I adjusted them back to quiet. Week later they started again & I adjusted again. Few months into it & we had the intake manifold off for some reason I forget & a friend was rotating the engine while I was watching to adjust the rockers while watching the cam rotate to bottom for the lobes. Low & behold there were no lobes at the very front & rear of the cam!
Lunati said they'd never seen this before in the pics I supplied & only offered me 10% over jobber cost on a replacement & I'd have to pay (again) for shipping from the States.

‹^› (•¿•) ‹^› is what they got back from me.
I said that where the lobes were it's pitted, which means crappy steel &/or poor hardening process after the grinding because it's at the ends of the cam.
