4 x 4, CD/Radio illumination not working

Hey all, got another issue I've been trying to figure out in this new ( to me ) ride, anyone got any ideas?
My dash lights work except the illumination for 4 x 4 switch ( does show I am in 2-wheel drive, dim yellow light ); but nothing else is illuminated to show where the other buttons are at night . This is the 4 way switch. I have checked all the fuses and connections but found nothing amiss.
Are these switches suppose to light up to show the other positions?
The other issues I have is with the BOSE radio/cd player illumination. I have clock and station I'm on in the box window to the right of the radio controls; but none of the pre set buttons light up or in fact any of the radio/cd switching controls. It's all dark with the headlights turned on and dash illumination on full at night. Real PITA if you want to tune in another station or increase volume or perform another function without turning on the inside console lights.
The radio/cd player functions as should except I have no rear sound coming from the speakers. I have checked fuses and wiring and again found nothing to be amiss. I am stumped.. any ideas on what to check next?

Don't see how a connection for illumination inside the radio would break and not effect some other part of operation. The radio works fine as does the cd player. I'll live with it.
As for replacing a bulb, there is none on the 4 x 4 switch and all others on the dash work, guess it's in the switch. I'll hit the bone yard today and grab another to compare.
Thanks for taking the time to answer...

The small bulbs that are behind the radio face plate are probably burnt out. I found this youtube video that does a great job showing how to replace them
As for the 4X4 lights I would guess its is just a light bulb.
Hope this helps
