Default 4WD question

I have a 98 Blazer 4.3 vin W LT with a 3 button 4WD switch.
My Blazer is stuck in 4Hi when I push the 2Hi button it just blinks a few times then stops and it stay in 4Hi. Same thing when I select 4Lo
I hear what I think is a motor or switch or something under or near the glove box click.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
Do I have a solenoid on the fire wall? Is there a vacum line that goes to the actuator under the battery, I done see one.
Thanks for any help.
Don

It sounds like the encoder motor on your transfer case is stuck. Happened on mine when I was in 4-lo a couple years ago. That click that you hear is the transfer case control module. Mine is located behind the kick panel on the passenger side.

If you have the 3-button switch, you will not have the electric vacuum solenoid on the firewall. You will have the mechanical switch for the vacuum on the transfer case.

Have a look at the articles in the Tech Article (DIY) section for a few articles on the NP233/NV233 transfer cases.
